SubAp! named “Best Local Music Site” by Creative Loafing

Well hot damn.  SubAp! received a Loafie!  In Creative Loafing Tampa’s 21st Annual Best of the Bay issue – which hit newsstands this morning – the alternative weekly named our little corner of the World Wide Web the “Best Local Music Site.” (Full Disclosure: Our own Ray Roa is also a member of CL Tampa’s music team.  Hey, it’s a tight community!)

The award is special because the same folks that we stand shoulder to shoulder with at every concert, art show, and bar are the ones who hand the out the accolades.  They’re same people who eat way too much at Laughing Cat and New World on lunch breaks, and the same ones who play the homegrown music that we live for.  In short, they’re the people who care about Tampa, St. Pete, and the rest of the Sunshine State as much as – if not more than – we do.  More importantly, they’re the people that play an active role in this community we live in.

So congrats to our videographers & photographers (Brian Mahar, Jordan Hicks, Ryan Zarra, Nicole Kibert, Kelley Jackson, Daryl Bowen, Danielle Malkin, Eliana Rowe, Tony Landa) and writers (Andy Stern, John Prinzo, Brandon DiLullo, Zachary Tomlinson, Scott Harrell, Colin Joyce, Joey Neill, Julia Stewart, Bamboota, Dave Velez, Casey at St. Petersblog, Todd Fixler, Ray Roa), and a big thank you to Joel Cook who birthed this bad boy in January.

As CL Tampa stated, “[SubAp!] was created for people in the music and art community to write and dictate its content,” so this site is nothing without the people on ground who care to share what they see, hear, and smell with the community.  To contribute to SubAp! please email Ray Roa by clicking here.

The entire Best of the Bay list is available online at and in real life in the little red Creative Loafing newsstands that are scattered around your neighborhood.  Below is a list of more people that we’re really happy for as well (and some links to our coverage).  A special thanks to everyone at CL Tampa for taking on the massive task of putting together the Best of the Bay issue (that thing is heavy!) and to all of you who have been so supportive.

Thanks again & thanks for reading
