LOOK: Torche + Palantine + Feral Babies at Crowbar 04.05.12

Torche is (L - R): Steve Brooks (Guitar/Vocals), Rick Smith (Drums), Andrew Elstner (Guitar/Vocals) and Jonathan Nuñez (Bass)

Not even toxic bat waste could keep Torche from playing Crowbar last Thursday night to an über enthusiastic Tampa crowd. While a bat did actually fly across the stage (see below), there was no stopping the heavy yet clever onslaught of sound that is expected from Torche. I have yet to see a Torche show that wasn’t completely cathartic. Touring on their new record, Harmonicraft (due out April 24th), Torche proves that rock n’ roll can be both super heavy and popish at the same time. Check out their website for some fantastic special pre-order items including skateboards and slipmats.

A bat gracefully flying across the Crowbar stage while Torche scorches earth - thanks Vinnie!

Some fans may have thought that Andrew Elstner looked familiar but not from Torche and they would be right. Andrew was in Tampa favorite, Riddle of Steel (who can forget their amazing New Year’s Eve show that rang in 2008 with unparalled enthusiasm). Have a look at Nicole’s shots from Torche’s set below, then follow the links to see pictures of two of our faves — Feral Babies and Palantine — opening up the show.
