As a reaction to most clubs’ PAs being overrun with the sound of Top 40 and ever-popular EDM, local hip hop superstar and community advocate Infinite Skillz has teamed up with Joe West Promotions to put together a Friday night weekly that looks to give hip hop fans from “all eras” and “all areas” a place to gather and partake in “good music, people, and business.”
Additionally, “The Boombox” (as it’s being dubbed) will give local hip hop artists a place to play their songs in a public forum where they will be able to witness brutally honest crowd feedback.
“If the people like the song, they will be instructed to clap, cheer, and we will put you in rotation,” it states on the event’s Facebook page. ”If not, you will NOT be booed. The people will just be silent and you will know you need to step it up.”
Interested parties can get more information on having their song played by emailing organizers, and more info on the event (which will run every Friday through September) is available at our calendar page. Check out Brian Mahar’s photos from the first installment of The Boombox below.
