The annual and consistently-concussive Saint Petersburg Noise Fest is the product of a greater community that cuts out the conventional as though it were gangrenous tissue on a human limb – there is no sonic boundary left secure. SubAp! was present for the first quarter of the approximately 20 acts that played in the Cafe Bohemia courtyard, where senses were assaulted or given life as something completely different. May it be the kamikaze fireworks of The Uh…, the organ immolation and axing by j.thelonious, the unnerving and brutal steel creation of Nequam Sonitus, the sheer dissonance of Mine Canary, the shamanic tendencies of Wahuhi Stoteric…the ethos is understood: SPNF4 was another testament to the growth and innovation of the Tampa Bay and greater noise scene.
