We’re never happy when anyone hurts themselves in an accident, but we are going to point out that the Red Hot Chili Peppers would not be kicking off their long awaited U.S. tour in Tampa if it wasn’t for Anthony Kiedis’ broken foot.  The Peppers frontman, for his part, looked (despite a few hiccups) as ready as ever to get the damn thing rolling as the Tampa Bay Times Forum welcomed the gang — Keidis, guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, drummer Chad Smith, and bassist/all around one of the baddest dudes out Flea — to our sunny little corridor of west central F-L-A.

The boys for their part made their pre-show excitement known with Smith sending excited out Twitter messages after the band’s last rehersal and Flea taking to Harbour Island and hiding some free tickets to the show under a trashcan (hat tip to our friends at TBT Soundcheck for the heads up on scavenger hunt).  Have a look at the photos below, and follow the link above to see shots from Santigold’s opening set.
