Brother Ali tore it up at the Social on Saturday. Prowling back and forth across the stage with that slightly off-kilter lean of his, he displayed a perfectly placed flow to a crowd that enjoyed every minute of it. He also brought with him a fantastic backing band, Blank Tape Beloved, that did a great job of translating the album tracks to a live setting, with a couple of old school hip-hop covers thrown in for good measure. And get this, they were even able to pull off a banjo at a hip-hop show. A BANJO. Crazy.
