LISTEN: Tom Waits’ new single – “Bad As Me”

“They told me you were no good. I know you’ll take care of all my needs. You’re the same kind of bad as me.”
– Tom Waits in his long awaited new single “Bad As Me.”
Our friends at TwentyFourBit dropped a 30-second sample of this track earlier today, but instead of biting on that, we decided to wait it out until tomorrow when the single officially sees digital storeshelves. Thankfully the fine folks at Some Kind of Awesome have made the wait worth it by posting the entire track for your ears to consume right now. The three-minute cut opens with what sounds like a synthesized drum beat and features that signature Waits warble that we’ve been missing since 2006′s Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards. Have a listen below.
UPDATE: At the request of Anti-/Epitaph, this stream has been removed. Feel free to download the official release tomorrow. In other news, Consequence of Sound is reporting that a new album from Waits is due on October 21.

I adored this album. I think there has been something true and nasty-delicious brewing between him and Kathleen over the last eight years for the two of them to come up with this much deep love.
a 5/5 from me.
