LISTEN: Dylar – The Specter EP
Is there such a thing as active-shoegaze? If there was is, then you could file Tampa-based five-piece Dylar in that category, but instead of simple filing the band into a genre and saving them for your next cocktail hour playlist making, why not give their debut effort, The Specter EP, a sonic test drive.
SUB AP! CAL: THE VELDT + THE VERA VIOLETS + DYLAR AT NEW WORLD BREWERY 03.17.13
The music is self-described as “Loud. Pretty. Music,” and that assessment isn’t too far off. The four-track release shimmers (“June”), screams (“Ascent”), and even moves in pure 80′s prom song ecstasy (“Long Song From A Future Man”).
The songs have been mixed and recorded by Carlos Andujar (who is the mastermind behind SubAp! fave Navigateur) and was mastered by Dan Munier. Give Specter a listen below, then get more information on the band upcoming show with The Vedlt and The Vera Violets by visiting our calendar page. Purchase the EP here.
