Rich Aucoin’s latest EP – Public Publication – features over 500 contributors, but if that seems like a lot of people to manage, then consider the thousands upon thousands of people the Halifax, Nova Scotia has converted into fans at his countless shows and festival appearances.
“With [Public Publication], I just started to invite friends and they told their friends – I didn’t want to leave anyone wanting,” he recently told Paste Magazine when asked about the abundance of players on the record, “So I invited everyone.”
It’s that communal aspect that will be on full display on Saturday when Aucoin hits the New World Brewery stage as a part of Summer Jam 7. The energy of his live shows has been compared to that of a Girl Talk performance and his sets are infamous for being audience-connecting, glitched-out, light-filled, all-out dance parties fueled by jams like “Brian Wilson is A.L.I.V.E.,” “Superman,” and “Push” (The latter of which is included in our Summer Jam 7 Mixtape).
He’s shared stages with The Flaming Lips, but if you need more convincing, then check out this video that Hangout Fest posted teasing his May 2011 performance.
Rich Aucoin performs at the New World Brewery Stage at 10:50 p.m. as a part of Summer Jam 7. More details on the event are available here.
