GET LEARNED: Hot Dog Show 6 (Feat. Guantanamo Baywatch + Alias Punch + Guiltmaker)

Crowbar’s grillmaster — Mr. Tuesday Night — can apparently still smell the ketchup and mustard of years gone by on his original “Hot Dog Show” t-shirt (just watch the video at the bottom of the post), and as the annual celebration of summer, wieners, frankfurters, and ‘Murica nears, you can bet you ass that he is ready to put another historic Hot Dog Show on the books.

Per usual, a fantastic lineup of regional talent will be on hand to help celebrate, but this time a trio of grimed out, sleazy, surf-abilly punks — Guantanamo Baywatch — will be on hand to make things very, very interesting.  The Portland, Ore.-based outfit’s recorded output consists of sunburned, acid-beach instrumentals (Postcard From The Tar Pitz), manically delivered laments about “Aloha Girls” and “Cum Fart Food” (the Reptile Roomate EP screams Chris Isaak on bath salts), and straight-out surf-punk (their latest 7″ — Oh Rats!  — is like Deer Tick meeting The Beach Boys).

What’s more is that their steamy, sexed-up live show should be the perfect complement to the evening’s celebration of gluttony as MC Minihorse calls on competitors to vie for the chance to be crowned Hot Dog Champion 6.  (Full disclosure: yours truly is the defending champ).  Have a look at some shots from last year’s shindig and click around to listen to music from Guantanamo Baywatch as well as Orlando’s Alias Punch (disclaimer: Shaq To The Future is an off-the-chain sci-fi mixtape — if you need something more “traditional,” then visit the band’s Bancamp page) and the Bay area’s own Guiltmaker.
