We’ve been crushing on the sounds of Jacksonville’s own Carlos Andujar — better known as Navigateur — ever since the good people at Synconation Records released his Steady Drift EP last year.  We were enamored by the Slurrr EP this February, and loved the Destin, Fla.-inspired “Lucid Dreaming” in May.  It all came to a head when we finally got to see Andujar perform live at this year’s Antiwarpt Music Festival.

Well, it’s the end of the summer season and Navigateur is back with what might be his strongest effort yet – 2020.  The seven track EP (available now via Synconation Records) is and danceable as Andujar has ever sounded and even features an impecabbly-timed Curtis Harison sample (“I Want Your Loving”) on its titular track.

The release posseses the perfect combination of futuristic vibes and nods to the 80s, but its greatest success is capturing the essence of Andujar’s live set onto an audio recording.  It’s hard not to picture him bobbing back and forth, queuing up samples, beating down his MPC machine, and having a good time when your ears are locked into 2020.  It’s pretty much impossible to not enjoy this release either.
