Gasparilla Music Festival Returns to Rock Downtown Tampa
Advanced tickets are now available for the second annual Gasparilla Music Festival presented by Tech Data
(Tampa) – The Gasparilla Music Festival Presented by Tech Data returns to downtown Tampa on March 9, 2013, with Grammy Award-winning band Ozomatli. The culture-mashing, Latin-funk-hip hop and everything-in-between Ozomatli is the first of several acts to be announced in the coming weeks. The L.A.-based band will headline GMF’s Kiley Gardens Stage, playing an evening set along with a special family-friendly set earlier in the day.
Fans can purchase advance general admission tickets for just $20 for a limited time, beginning Tuesday, Nov. 20. Prices will increase as more bands are announced. Tickets are available through the GMF website (gasparillamusicfestival.com) and at select local ticket outlets. Admission is free for children ages 12 and under.
Along with cutting edge bands on four stages throughout downtown Tampa, this year’s GMF expands upon its children’s festival-within-the-festival from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Kiley Gardens, located between Curtis Hixon Park and Rivergate Tower. In addition to family-friendly entertainment on the Kiley Gardens Stage sponsored by FL Legal Group, there will be arts and crafts, games and other activities for children.
“We’re thrilled to enhance GMF’s family-friendly component with Ozomatli’s ‘Ozokidz’ show, and we wanted to get the tickets out early at a reduced price so that parents could take advantage,” said GMF president David Cox.
Songs from Ozomatli’s Ozokidz project were recently featured on PBS KIDS’ first music album PBS KIDS ROCKS! and have stayed at the top of the popular KiDS Place LiVE 13under13 charts for the past 12 weeks.
As part of its mission as a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting music and education in Tampa Bay, GMF has launched several charitable initiatives this year. GMF’s Music in the Schools program provides instruments to Tampa Bay-area schools. GMF will also sponsor the Patel Conservatory’s Rock School Blowout on Dec. 1 at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, and has provided scholarships for the conservatory’s Rock School program.
GMF is an all-day music festival taking place on four stages in and around Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and Kiley Gardens in downtown Tampa. Full details, including the festival’s complete lineup, food and beverage offerings, and sponsors, will be announced at a later date.
